Caleb requested a Lego themed birthday this year, which I thought was a great idea since we already had approximately 12, 348 Lego bricks in our playroom. Score!
First up: Decorations:
As many of you might know, I really do enjoy making the decorations for my boys' parties. Its way more fun and usually less expensive. I also like to enlist the boys to help me and they get really excited about it. Its a win, win!
They boys helped make his birthday banner. I made one a few years ago and didn't store it properly, so we needed to make a new one. I decided on making a general looking banner so that we could reuse it for the years to come.
We also made Lego men kirigami using the tutorial here:
They boys helped me make this Lego block banner for the kitchen too.
The ever so handy hubby made a 6 out of Legos and I added in some Lego men from our stash.
He also made this Lego house utensil holder. Its so cute and he whipped it up in no time.
We used some Lego creations we already had built for the table and we covered Kleenex boxes in red wrapping paper for big lego bricks on the table.
Food:
I bought a Lego mold on Amazon for super cheap and used them to make edible Lego men and bricks for the cupcakes and party favors.
We also had Lego head marshmallow pops that turned out cute. I followed this tutorial and plan on making more of these for other parties too. Wouldn't it be fun to just a dip big ol" marshmallow in chocolate and then cover it sprinkles?
We also had a fruit tray and some M &Ms. For the drinks, the boys helped me glue together these juice box covers.
Idea found here.
The adults got to pick from the Lego man faces for their drink.
Some Nana time!
Games:
We played the classic "How many in the jar" game using Legos.
Next up was Lego Bingo! I made these Lego cards by using images on Google of different types of Lego bricks, characters, etc. The kids used Lego bricks for each item called out and yelled "Lego!" when they had five in a row. Each kiddo got a prize when they won.
Mimi and Nana helping out during the game.
Next we played "I spy the Lego guy". I hid 48 of these paper Lego men upstairs and the kids had a Lego man hunt. They really loved this game!
Here they are with their finds!
This little boy loved this game (probably because he found 10 total!)
Last up we played 2 Lego building games. We split the kids up into two teams and each team raced against each other to see who could build the tallest tower in 5 minutes.
David even found his Lego shirt for just a few bucks in the clearance section. Score! Happy Birthday 6th to Caleb!
