Lately I've been searching for some new recipes to try. I'm also wanting to make the kids lunches more fun and creative, so I've been researching and have come across a food blog that I just love.
Here I found a great recipe for no bake homemade granola bars and had a little helper along the way.
Don't these look so delicious?!
Here's what you'll need:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup clover honey
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups quick cooking oats (not rolled oats)
1 cup crispy rice cereal
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
1/4 cup clover honey
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups quick cooking oats (not rolled oats)
1 cup crispy rice cereal
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Stir oats and rice cereal together in a large bowl.
On medium high heat, melt butter, honey, and brown sugar together until it comes to a bubble. Reduce the heat and cook for 2 minutes. Then add vanilla and stir.
*Try to use clover honey instead of organic pure honey for a better taste.
Pour over dry ingredients and mix well. I added in a few chocolate chips to the batch to give them more chocolaty taste :)
Pour into a lightly greased jelly roll pan and pack granola tightly onto one side of your pan so that the bars are nice and thick. Wait several minutes for the cooling process to begin and then sprinkle more mini chocolate chips on top and press down lightly. Cool for 1-2 hours before cutting.
We also made dried cranberry/dried blueberry granola bars. The possibilities are endless!
With white chocolate chips on top!
Both sets of bars are cooling away!
YUM.
We packaged them each individually so that they're ready for an on-the-go snack and for school lunches. Hope you get to try these!
